Intrepimid's Blog, rubitinmyeyes: Well I’ve been picking away at...
rubitinmyeyes:

Well I’ve been picking away at this drawing in between doing other things and it’s time to cut the umbilical cord.  This is a picture of one of my favorite scenes from the fantastic fanfic Blue Sky  in which Wheatley does what is perhaps his first completely unselfish good deed in the story—something done not in an attempt to impress anyone, or to ensure his own survival, just done for the sake of making Chell feel better.
I just thought this scene was freaking magical and it made me decide I really like this Wheatley.  It really showed what these two can offer each other: him giving her a sense of comfort, her giving him a sense of purpose.  Just so well done, I could hear music.
I based the Wheatley design off Waffleguppies’ own adorable drawings and adapted it to my style and ended up with someone looking quite a bit like Stephen Merchant, oops.  K’s banners and other talented artists made me want to push myself to work with color.  So many of you folks have such great color sense and I can’t tell the difference between my stuff being Fauvian or just garbage so feel free to send me critiques in asks or submits.

I’ve been -really- loving Blue Sky since I saw some fanart for it on DA and investigated.  I finished the newest chapter last night and was like “FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF” at thought of having to wait again for more.
